1 RAR ASSOCIATION BRISBANE (Its long try to get through it)
On the back of the great reunion in Townsville, and interest of so many to stay connected. I am posting this to let you all know what is happening this year and all the information is in one spot. There are three main activities you need to know about.
These beings:
1. 1 RAR Sub-branch meetings,
2. 1 RAR Old Boys Drinks and
3. The 1 RAR Birthday function 13th Oct 2018 (Kedron Wavell Services Club)
Sub Branch Meetings
These have been held lately at The Kedron Wavell Services Club, for many years they were at Gallipoli Barracks, but access has become an issue. They are normally held on the first Sunday of the month, was every month but now every second to third depending on what is going on. The next meeting being Sunday 3rd June 1030 followed by lunch for those wishing to stay (the AGM is in August each year). These meetings are of a formal natural as we are a financial organisation, however, we do tend to fall into general discussion in general business once the formal stuff is out of the way. No one is expected to come along but some new faces would be nice every now and then (regularly 10 to 15 turn up)
What do we do? Firstly watch the welfare of each other, organise 1 RAR representation at pass members funerals, banner and wreaths for ANZAC day and other significant events, organisation of the Battalion birthday function in Brisbane.

1 RAR Old Boys Drinks
The first one will be on the Friday 29 June 18, from 1700 to 1900 at The Victory Hotel 127 Edward St Brisbane City. This location was chosen as it is central and public transport is a great option. Well done Paul Anderson for getting this up. Paul is currently on snail mail (email only) so please direct questions to the association page and we will sort out. The frequency of these are not yet known, but timings and location will always be posted on facebook and sent out by email.
1 RAR Birthday function 13th Oct 2018 (Kedron Wavell Services Club)
Last year we held the first Brisbane birthday lunch and had about 40 people, the largest group of attendees was those who served in 1 RAR through the 80s and 90s. This function is informal (neat casual dress) and wives /family are most welcome. There are some more details on the 1RAR web site under events. It is an Association subsidised event again this year at $25 per attendee (Normally $36). More information to follow about payment etc closer to the date.
