Event information

This event has passed.

A Memorial Service reflecting on actions 53 years ago at Coral Balmoral followed by Lunch at the Redcliffe RSL is to be held on Thursday 13 May 2021.Due to the implications that the Virus has on planning activities the outline plan is to keep things simple but relevant for this important event in our lives.
It is of the utmost importance that Veterans indicate their intention to attend the function so arrangements for seating etc can be requested when dealing with the local council. Attendance is not restricted to Bravo Company you are all welcome.

Venues:
The Service will be held at the Memorial on the shores of Moreton Bay and across the road from the Redcliffe RSL.
Timings:
Service: Commence at 1100hrs
Lunch: From 1230 hrs
Attendance: All we ask is that you contact Gus via Email at guswalker@tpg.com.au or on the Mobile 0434330633 to say you are attending. That will allow us to plan for seating and informing the RSL about lunch
numbers.
Costs:
Veterans will be required to pay for their own lunch and drinks there will be no upfront costs except people will be asked to contribute to the hire costs for seating/tentage if needed and lunch for the support
people. Until we are aware of the numbers attending, these aspects are not known. I am thinking of passing the hat around type recovery!! We have funds from our 6 Platoon which will attend to any initial costs. The wreaths will be paid for by the Association of the First Battalion Queensland Branch and printing of the Order of Service will be done by the RSL.
Meals:
When figures are firmed up arrangements will be made with the RSL for an area for us to get together. We are not planning to have a separate room or table service. The layout is excellent it is a great venue.
Accommodation:
The Redcliffe Peninsula has at least 3 excellent Caravan parks and a number of Motel / Hotels to choose from.
Military History Books:
We currently have of a small number of books beautifully produced by Allen Green [Mob 0419730663] covering our tour in 1968 > 69 for sale if veterans are interested. Titles are:

  • 6 Platoon
  • Incidents B Company

Order of Service:
An order of Service will be produced for distribution on the day and will include a Poppy service for those who lost their lives during the Battle.
Conclusion:
We are prepared to organise the activity let us know if you are going to join us.
