This reunion function is hosted by the 1 RAR Association and is for 1 RAR OP SOLACE Battle Group veterans, partners and invited guests only.

Location. Upstairs at the Townsville RSL.

When. Sunday 6 Apr 25 - 1800 for 1830.

Dress. Neat casual with medals. Feel free to wear a jacket if you wish.

Food and drinks. The meal is a two-course alternate drop menu. There will be a bottle of red and white wine on each table of eight. There will also be port for toasting.

Cost. The 1 RAR Association subsidises the meal, wine and port to keep the cost as low as possible. The cost per head is $50. Invoices will be issued by email upon registration.

Registration closes at 1159h on 14 Mar 25. Invoices paid no later than 25 Mar 25. We must cancel if we don’t have 50 attendees by 14 Mar. If we cancel, you will receive a full refund by Direct Deposit.

The 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, has been awarded the prestigious Meritorious Unit Citation for its exceptional service during Operation SOLACE in Somalia in 1992-1993 as part of the United Task Force (UNITAF). The citation recognises the battalion's professionalism, courage, and dedication in a challenging and often hostile environment. During the operation, the 1st Battalion played a crucial role in restoring order and providing humanitarian assistance to the Somali people in the Bai Province. They faced numerous dangers, including armed militia, famine and disease outbreaks, and difficult living conditions. Despite these challenges, the battalion consistently demonstrated the highest standards of conduct and achieved their mission.
